LATE FEE POLICY

Policy with Regards to Reimbursement and Late Fees

1) Reimbursement:

Once a member has renewed and paid their annual membership dues there will be no reimbursement of fees or Pro-Rating of membership should the member decide to terminate their membership. 

2) Active Membership Late Fees

2a) If an Active member has not paid their membership renewal dues by December 31st  they will be required to pay a $20 late service fee if paid by March 31st.  After April 1st for that year a $50 late service fee will be charged. 

2b) If an Active member has not renewed from the previous year the member must pay the membership dues for the current year and previous year.  The member must also show competency, submitting a work history with a letter of competency signed by their supervisor. 

2c) At the 3rd year, the active member will need to pay three years of membership dues and send a complete work history and have a letter of competency signed by their supervisor.

2d) After the 3rd year, the member will need to reapply at a charge of $150.00 and send a complete work history, including practice hours within the last year, and have a letter of competency signed by their supervisor.  If accepted the member would then have to pay the membership dues for that year.

3)  Certified Spirometry Technician

3a) If a Spirometry Technician member has not paid their membership renewal dues by December 31st they will be required to pay a $10 late service fee if paid by March 31st.  After April 1st for that year a $20 late service fee will be charged. 

3b) If a Spirometry Technician member has not renewed from the previous year the member must pay the membership dues for the current year and previous year.  The member must also show competency, submitting a work history with a letter of competency signed by their supervisor. 

3c) At the 3rd year, the Spirometry Technician member will need to pay three years of membership dues and send a complete work history and have a letter of competency signed by their supervisor.

3d) After the 3rd year, the member will need to reapply at a charge of $100.00 and send a complete work history, including practice hours within the last year, and have a letter of competency signed by their supervisor.  If accepted the member would then have to pay the membership dues for that year.

4) Inactive Membership Late Fees

4a) If an Inactive member has not paid their membership renewal dues by December 31st they will be required to pay a $10 late service fee if paid by March 31st.  After April 1st for that year a $20 late service fee will be charged. 

4b) If an Inactive member has not renewed from the previous year the member must pay the membership dues for the current year and previous year.

4c) At the 3rd year, the inactive member will need to pay three years of membership dues.

4d) After 3 years of inactive status the member will be notified that they can no longer maintain this status.  They must decide to return to active status or can continue to support the Association as a supporting member.  If a member has been inactive for 3 years and a member in good standing (ie paid inactive dues) and would like to return to active status the member will need to reapply as above in section 1d but would not need to pay the $150.

4e) If the inactive member does not renew their membership yearly they will be considered not paid up  members. If they wish to become active again they will need to reapply in the usual manner. 

5)  Student Registry Eligible Membership

5a) If a student registry eligible member has not paid their membership renewal dues by December 31st they will be required to pay a $10 late service fee if paid by March 31st.  After April 1st for that year a $20 late service fee will be charged. 

5b) If the student registry eligible member does not renew their membership he/she will no longer be considered a Student Registry Eligible member and will not be able to challenge the exam.  If they wish to challenge at a future date they will need to reapply in the usual manner.

5) Rewriting the National Registry Exam

5a)  After 7 years of not paying any dues for Registered membership to the CACPT the individual will be required to reapply as a Student Registry Eligible member and  to rechallenge the National Registry Exam.

5b) After 7 years of not paying any dues for the Certified Spirometry Technician to the CACPT the individual will be required to reapply and rechallenge the Certified Spirometry exam.
